My counselling approach is integrative, holistic, and person-centred, grounded in the understanding that we are more than our thoughts, emotions, behaviours, or life circumstances. We are complex beings whose mind, body, and spirit are continually interacting and influencing one another.
I believe that many of life's challenges can become opportunities for deeper self-understanding, healing, and growth. Rather than viewing people as broken or in need of fixing, I see each person as possessing an innate wisdom and capacity for transformation that can emerge when given the right support, understanding, and space.
Through counselling, I support clients to explore their thoughts, emotions, beliefs, life experiences, relationships, physical wellbeing, and spiritual perspectives as interconnected aspects of a greater whole. Together, we seek to understand not only what is causing distress, but also what life may be inviting you to learn, integrate, heal, or become through your experiences.
My role is not to tell you who you should be. It is to walk alongside you as you reconnect with who you already are.
Healing is not always about removing discomfort. Sometimes it is about developing a different relationship with ourselves, our experiences, and the challenges we encounter. Through greater self-awareness, self-acceptance, and alignment, new possibilities for wellbeing, meaning, and personal growth can emerge.
Holistic Counselling can help you to:
Identify thought patterns and beliefs that may be contributing to distress.
Explore emotional responses and past experiences to promote healing and self-understanding.
Recognise how emotions can affect the body through tension, fatigue, stress, or chronic pain.
Develop practical tools such as breathwork, meditation, movement, and grounding techniques.
Build resilience and develop healthier ways of responding to life's challenges.
Explore questions of purpose, meaning, identity, and personal growth.
Reconnect with your inner wisdom and authentic self.
Understand how relationships, work, and life circumstances influence wellbeing.
Establish healthy boundaries and supportive conditions for healing.
Encourage self-expression, self-care, balance, and wholeness.

Reiki is a gentle yet powerful healing practice that supports wellbeing across mind, body, and spirit. Originating in Japan, Reiki (霊気) translates to "universal life force energy" — the energy that flows through all living things.
I view Reiki as a supportive practice that helps create the conditions for healing by encouraging deep relaxation, nervous system regulation, balance, and reconnection with self.
When we experience stress, grief, illness, emotional challenges, or significant life transitions, we can become disconnected from our natural sense of wellbeing and wholeness. Reiki offers a quiet and nurturing space to slow down, reconnect, and support the body's innate capacity for healing and restoration.
Like counselling, Reiki is not about fixing what is broken. It is about creating space for greater awareness, balance, integration, and alignment within ourselves.
Energy healing practices have been used across cultures for thousands of years and have been shown to support:
Stress, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm
Fatigue and low energy
Insomnia
Depression and mental wellbeing
Muscular pain, tension, headaches, and migraines
Inflammation and immune support
Soft tissue injuries and chronic discomfort

A note on integration and support
For some people, Reiki feels deeply nourishing.
For others, energy work can open things emotionally — and without support afterward, this can feel unsettling or leave them unsure how to integrate what’s arisen. This is why I offer Reiki both as stand-alone sessions and as part of a supported, integrative approach, where there is space to reflect, ground, and make sense of the healing process over time.
Healing doesn’t end when the energy work finishes — integration is where it becomes embodied.
What Happens in a Reiki Session?
Your session begins with a brief conversation about your intentions or what you’re currently navigating.
You’ll then rest comfortably, fully clothed, on a massage table or in a chair. The space is quiet and calming, with gentle lighting and music if desired.
I place my hands lightly on or just above the body, working with energy centres and areas of need. I act as a channel for Reiki energy, allowing it to flow where it’s most required.
Experiences vary — you may feel warmth, tingling, deep relaxation, emotional release, imagery, or simply a sense of calm. There is no “right” experience; whatever arises is exactly what’s meant to in that moment.
After the session, we allow time to reflect on anything that came up — sensations, insights, or messages — supporting gentle awareness and integration.
To support energetic shifts, I encourage you to allow yourself spaciousness and rest after your session.

The Menopause Alchemy Sessions
Menopause is often spoken about as a problem to be managed—a decline, a loss of youth, or a collection of symptoms to be endured. Yet across many cultures, traditions, and spiritual teachings, this stage of life has been viewed very differently: as a profound transition into a new chapter of wisdom, authenticity, and self-discovery.
In our modern culture, menopause is rarely honoured in this way. Instead, it is often surrounded by silence, misunderstanding, and negative stereotypes. Women may find their experiences dismissed, their emotions minimised, or feel pressured to navigate this transition alone.
While the physical changes of menopause are real and deserve understanding and support, I believe this transition can also offer an invitation to pause, reflect, and reconnect with yourself in a deeper way. As old roles, expectations, and identities begin to shift, there is an opportunity to create space for greater self-awareness, freedom, and alignment with what truly matters.
The Menopause Alchemy Sessions offer a holistic approach to this transition, acknowledging the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual dimensions of the journey. Together, we explore not only what is happening within the body, but also what this stage of life may be asking of you personally.
My intention is to help women move through menopause with greater understanding, self-compassion, and confidence, while reconnecting with their inner wisdom and embracing the possibilities that can emerge through this time of change.
A Six-Session Guided Journey
Through a blend of education, self-inquiry, holistic support, and energetic healing, we will:
Understand menopause within a medical and physiological context.
Explore the emotional, physical, energetic, and spiritual dimensions of the transition.
Identify and release beliefs, patterns, and expectations that no longer serve you.
Develop a deeper understanding of your changing body and its needs.
Cultivate self-compassion, confidence, and resilience.
Reconnect with your inner wisdom, intuition, and authentic self.
Explore what this next chapter of life is inviting you to become.
While each session offers valuable insight and support, the full six-session journey allows space for deeper reflection, integration, and lasting transformation.
The commitment you make is a promise to yourself—to honour your body, trust your inner knowing, and approach menopause not as something that is wrong with you, but as a natural transition that may hold opportunities for growth, renewal, and deeper self-understanding.
Far from being an end, menopause is a powerful new beginning.

A Dementia & End-of-Life Doula provides non-medical, emotional, practical, and spiritual support to individuals living with dementia, those facing serious illness, and people approaching the end of life.
Ageing, dementia, dying, death, and grief are natural parts of life, yet many people find themselves navigating these experiences with little support, understanding, or opportunity for meaningful conversations. My role is to offer a compassionate, grounded presence — walking alongside individuals and families with dignity, respect, and care.
Drawing on experience in dementia care, aged care, palliative care, and end-of-life support, I provide person-centred guidance through diagnosis, disease progression, ageing, caregiving, and the final stages of life. I support individuals and families to navigate uncertainty, make informed choices, and focus on what matters most.
Support may include:
Advance care planning, emotional wills, legacy work, and funeral wishes.
Ongoing support while living with dementia or a life-limiting illness, including companionship, practical assistance, and personal care.
Non-medical support during palliative care and active dying, including comfort-focused care and family support.
After-death care, vigils, and honouring cultural, spiritual, and personal wishes.
Funeral and memorial planning.
Grief and bereavement support for family members and loved ones.
I can also help individuals and families navigate the health system, communicate with care providers, understand available options, and advocate for care that aligns with their values, wishes, and goals.
You remain the expert in your own life. My role is not to take over, but to walk alongside you — or your loved one — offering steady, compassionate support that honours dignity, choice, personhood, and the uniqueness of each individual's journey.
Even in the face of illness, dementia, and dying, there remains the possibility for connection, meaning, comfort, and moments of profound humanity.
About
Hi, I’m Amanda.
I was born in Wellington, New Zealand, and grew up with a deep connection to nature. Much of my childhood was spent barefoot in the bush and streams—catching eels, climbing trees, watching birds, building forts, and exploring the natural world. I developed a lifelong love of the ocean and still like to say I have salt water in my veins.
As a teenager, I was both sporty and creative, immersed in swimming, netball, singing, and performance. I was a self-confessed drama nerd, often found rummaging through the school costume department, creating characters and bringing them to life.
As an adult, I channelled this creativity into building a successful career in television and advertising. I worked my way up through the industry, eventually running award-winning production companies and building production businesses within global agency networks. I was successful, accomplished, and very good at what I did.
But somewhere in my mid-thirties, something shifted.
On paper, my life looked great. I was earning good money and had achieved many of the things I had been taught would bring happiness and fulfilment. Yet beneath the surface, I was anxious, depressed, chronically unwell, addicted to alcohol, and utterly exhausted.
I had become very good at pretending I was okay, hiding how I really felt—not only from others, but from myself.
-
Eventually, life became so uncomfortable that I could no longer ignore it. I found myself asking a simple but life-changing question:
Why do I feel this way?
As I began searching for answers, I was forced to look honestly at myself and my life. In doing so, I uncovered experiences and wounds that had caused me deep pain—pain I had spent years avoiding through busyness, achievement, distraction, and addiction.
I had a choice: to continue living in quiet misery, or to choose something different.
I chose the latter.
That choice marked the beginning of a profound healing journey. What began as a search for relief became a path of self-discovery, understanding, and transformation.
Through my own healing journey, I came to understand that I am not broken.
I discovered that beneath the stories, fears, conditioning, and coping strategies I had carried for so many years, there was something deeper. I came to know myself as loving awareness and powerful beyond measure.
I realised that I have a purpose on this earth and that I am exactly as I am meant to be in this moment.
Most importantly, I learned that I am enough. I am whole.
This understanding changed the course of my life and ultimately inspired the creation of Return to Wholeness.
Over the past decade, I have trained in a variety of healing and support modalities, including counselling, Reiki and Ashati energy healing, yoga, breathwork, meditation, aged care, dementia care, palliative care, end-of-life support, and End-of-Life Doula work.
Today, I bring together both professional training and lived experience to support people navigating change, healing, menopause, ageing, dementia, grief, caregiving, end-of-life, and life's many transitions.
I don't believe people need fixing.
I believe that beneath life's challenges, losses, conditioning, and struggles, there remains a whole human being with an innate capacity for healing, growth, wisdom, and transformation.
My role is not to provide all the answers. It is to walk alongside you as you reconnect with yourself, discover your true purpose, and return to a deeper sense of balance, meaning, and wholeness.
